This weekend is packed with community events that could put a smile on your face, a bike helmet on your kid's head and a vehicle identification number on your windshield.
The biggest splash will be at Crossroads Community Park, where the opening of the new Water Spray Playground will be noon to 3 p.m. Clowns, balloons and a ribbon-cutting will all be part of the event at 999 164th Ave. NE. Audience members can even participate in a dance in the playground led by Seattle dance ensemble "Phffft."
Kids learn bike safety, and can get gear and goodies, at Optimist Club Bike Safety Fairs, in Issaquah Saturday and at Lake Hills Elementary School in Bellevue on Sunday.
Last but not least, Bellevue Police will give car owners another measure of protection against theft by etching vehicle identification numbers into windshields Saturday at the Safeway downtown. Learn more here.
