A fire in a one-bedroom apartment in the Crossroads neighborhood Tuesday caused by unattended incense cause $45,000 damage and displaced both occupants.
The Bellevue Fire Department received notification of an automatic fire alarm at 9:45 a.m., Tuesday at the Lamplighter apartments located at 15300 NE Eighth St. Firefighters arrived within three minutes to find smoke in the hallway and a small fire in the front room of the first floor apartment.
The building was evacuated and the fire was brought under control within eight minutes. The Red Cross was called to assist the two residents who were displaced due to smoke and fire damage in their apartment.
Fire investigators determined the fire was caused by burning incense left unattended. The initial damage assessment is $45,000.
