City Council members Tuesday interviewed the seven finalists for the seat vacated in January by Connie Marshall. Video of interviews
The candidates, selected by the Council from among 21 city residents who applied for the seat, each answered the following three questions:
- What do you see as the role of a council member, and what does it take to do that job well?
- One of the City Council's responsibilities is to articulate a vision for the city -- to be thinking about the future. What is your vision for what Bellevue could look like 10 or even 20 years from now?
- Transportation consistently ranks high on the annual surveys of citizen concerns. What do you believe the City Council should do to improve transportation in Bellevue?
The Council will discuss the qualifications of the finalists when it meets Monday, Feb. 25. Council may even choose a new member then.
The seven candidates interviewed were, in alphabetical order:
- Patsy Bonincontri
- Mike Creighton
- Betina Finley
- David Karle
- Lise Northey
- Jennifer Robertson
- Kenneth Schiring
The successful candidate will complete the two years remaining in Marshall's term, which extends until the general election in November 2009.
City Council meetings convene at 6 p.m. in the Council Conference Room. The meetings can be viewed live on Channel 21, Bellevue TV, also streamed through the city's website. See Bellevue TV.
