One southbound lane will be closed on Bellevue Way Southeast, on both sides of its intersection with Southeast Sixth Street, for the next three weeks. The closure of the outside lane, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on weekdays, will start Wednesday, Aug. 5.
The lane closure allows King County to install a concrete vault for a wastewater main at the corner of Southeast Sixth and Bellevue Way. Contractors will excavate a 500-square-foot area beneath and adjacent to the sidewalk on the west side of Bellevue Way, south of the Sixth Street intersection.
The western sidewalk immediately south of Southeast Sixth Street will also be closed during work hours. King County urges residents to avoid entering the work area and to obey all traffic control personnel when passing near the site.
What to expect:
- Increased noise and activity on Bellevue Way Southeast near Southeast Sixth Street.
- Traffic reduced to one southbound traffic lane on Bellevue Way Southeast beginning just north of Southeast Sixth Street and extending approximately 500 feet south.
- Sidewalk on west side of Bellevue Way Southeast closed for 200 feet south of Southeast Sixth Street.
