Bellevue’s annual Earth Day/Arbor Day Community Celebration, set for Saturday, April 21, this year, will feature a community celebration, a tree planting ceremony and volunteer park enhancement projects throughout the city. 
- Park Enhancement Projects: From 8:30 a.m. to noon, approximately 300 volunteers will participate in projects at several Bellevue park sites, including Lewis Creek Park. Volunteers should preregister by calling 425-452-7225 by Thursday, April 19.
- Community Celebration at Lewis Creek Park: From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the celebration will feature environmental displays and information, free nature arts and crafts and a live musical performance by Brazilian guitarist Marco de Carvalho.
- Ceremonial Tree Planting: From 12:30 to 1 p.m., the tree-planting will feature Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2995. Bellevue Mayor Grant Degginger and City Councilman Conrad Lee will participate and recognize volunteers and community groups.
Also in celebration of Earth Day/Arbor Day, poster art about the importance of trees created by fifth-grade students at Eastgate and Phantom Lake elementary schools is on display now through May 1 at the Bellevue Arts Museum and at Whole Foods Market, 88 116th Ave. N.E.
