On February 10th, 2012 at approximately 1759 hours, Bellevue Police responded to a reported robbery at the Banner Bank located in the 12400 block of Bellevue Redmond Road. Staff at the bank called to report that a male displayed a note demanding cash, and then fled with an undisclosed amount of currency.
While Bellevue Police officers were responding to the bank, an officer located a possible suspect vehicle that had been involved in an attempted bank robbery in Kirkland minutes earlier. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, however the suspects refused to stop and a short pursuit ensued. During the course of the pursuit, two other vehicles were struck by the suspect vehicle.
After crashing into the second vehicle, the suspect’s vehicle became disabled on the onramp to State Route 520 from NE 10th Street. Bellevue police conducted a high risk traffic stop, and took two suspects into custody without further incident. Both suspects, as well as a citizen that was stuck by the suspect vehicle were transported to Overlake Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The suspects will be booked into King County jail upon their release from Overlake Hospital. Bellevue police believe that the suspects that are in custody are responsible for both the attempted bank robbery in Kirkland as well as the bank robbery in Bellevue. This is an ongoing investigation.
