Standoff ends peacefully

A police standoff ended peacefully after eight hours Wednesday afternoon. The suspect is in custody and no one was injured.

Wednesday morning, at approximately 6:15 a.m., Bellevue Police were dispatched to the report of a court order violation between a mother and son in the 17400 block of Northeast 10th Street.

The mother reported that her 48-year-old son was in her house, violating a no-contact order between them. She left her home while her son and a friend remained there. Police responded and contacted the friend who exited the home freely.

The subject, known to Bellevue Police, remained in the home, refusing contact. Due to the officer safety history involving this subject, Bellevue SWAT was called to the scene. Patrol officers held a perimeter around the home.

After several hours, negotiators were able convince the subject to comply with police. The subject was safely contacted and removed from the home.

Neighbors were asked to stay in their homes while Northeast 10th Street between Northup Way and 176th Avenue Northeast was closed during the incident.
