The Bellevue Police Department Saturday collected 180 pounds of controlled, non-controlled, and over-the-counter medications as part of the Drug Enforcement Administration's nationwide prescription drug "Take-Back" initiative.
The Bellevue Police staffed three separate locations and collected seven boxes of unwanted medications. In April, 290 pounds were collected and last year, 398 pounds were collected.
"It looks like the campaign is working! Citizens are cleaning out their medicine cabinets," commented police public information officer Carla Iafrate. "I get phone calls throughout the year asking when the next take-back-drug day will occur."
The DEA offers more information on how to safely dispose of unwanted drugs.
