Bellevue Police Chief Linda Pillo has been appointed to the Commission on Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA), a national organization that maintains standards for public safety agencies.
Chief Pillo was appointed this month, for a three-year term to start Jan. 1, 2012. The Commission Board is composed of 21 members; 11 law enforcement practitioners and the rest from the public and private sectors. The Bellevue Police Department was accredited in 2005, and continues to demonstrate a commitment to professional standards in policy and practice. The department's continuous process of thorough self-evaluation ensures the best practices in law enforcement. Earlier this year the Bellevue department was reaccredited for a third time and selected as a CALEA "flagship agency," a status shared by only a small percentage of law enforcement agencies. The designation represents an extraordinary example of excellence in public safety.
