Fire destroys apartment leasing office

A fire destroyed the leasing office of a Lake Hills apartment complex Tuesday afternoon. The building was damaged beyond repair, but no one was in it at the time and no one was injured.

At 4:32 p.m., a resident at the complext -- the Port Apartments, 14009 Southeast Fourth St. -- called 911 to report smoke and flames from the laundry room of the single-story building.

Bellevue fire units arrived to find heavy fire coming from the office and laundry areas of the building. Units from Bellevue, Mercer Island and Redmond worked to control the fire.

Investigators on the scene worked to determine the origin and cause of the fire. No estimate of damage has been made.

Firefighters extinguish the fire that destroyed the Port Apartments leasing office.
