Bellevue TV videos finalists for national awards

Features produced for Bellevue Television's "It's Your City" program are finalists for three 2011 National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (NATOA) government programming awards.

The show's "Environmental Tip of the Month" feature is a finalist in the promotional video campaign category. A segment about the Bellevue Youth Theatre is a finalist in the arts and entertainment category while one about safely exploring Bellevue by bike is a finalist in the public safety video category.

"It's Your City" is a monthly magazine show featuring city programs and services. The show is produced under the direction of David Grant, interim city communications director; John Burwell, executive producer; Robin Steel Haaseth, executive producer and host; David Bruckner, producer/director and David Richardson, editor.

The show airs several times each month on Bellevue Television (BTV Channel 21), and can also be seen any time at Bellevue TV. Bellevue Television is Bellevue's government access cable channel, featuring city council meetings, arts, cultural, educational and other programming. It also provides coverage of the state Legislature, community events and special programming on issues of importance to residents.

The channel is operated through a partnership of the city and Bellevue College, which share costs of operating a state-of-the-art studio facility. Student crews provide staffing support, while gaining hands-on training.

NATOA issues government programming awards each year to recognize excellence in programming produced by local government. NATOA receives more than 1,000 entries annually representing more than 150 agencies throughout the U.S. and Canada. The 2011 awards will be presented Sept. 23 in San Francisco.
