While finance departments are not accredited, Bellevue's regularly receives awards and certificates of achievement from the Government Finance Officers Association, a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 16,000 government finance professionals in the U.S. and Canada.

The department every year earns a certificate of achievement for excellence in financial reporting for the city's annual financial report. It also regularly receives a distinguished budget presentation award for producing clear city budgets.

Finally, the Finance Department has received the certificate of excellence in performance management from the International City/County Management Association for the city’s leadership in using and reporting performance data.
