Teen shoots brother in altercation

At about 7:30 PM, Bellevue Fire Department received a 911 call about a 12 year old bleeding from the face.  Fire units were dispatch to the 12th Place Condos while dispatchers gathered more information. There was a strong language barrier during the initial call but the 911 dispatcher was able to determine that there was a disturbance at the location and police were also started.

Upon arriving, the Bellevue firefighters and police officers discovered a 12 year old boy with a gunshot wound to the face. Early facts are that the 12 year was in an altercation with is 16 year old brother during which a handgun was produced and the 16 year shot the younger boy in the mouth area.

The 12 year old boy was rushed to Harborview Medical Center with life threatening injuries. Bellevue Police transported the boy’s mother and sister there also.

The 16 year old boy has been detained by detectives for questioning.

The motive for the shooting is not known nor is it known how the 16 year old came to be in possession of a loaded handgun.

The investigation is ongoing at this hour.
