Traffic Signals
Bellevue’s Transportation department is replacing incandescent light bulbs in traffic signals with new light-emitting diodes (LED’s) around the city.
The savings to the city in costs, energy and carbon dioxide emissions are some of the most impressive of any energy efficiency projects to date. These signal upgrades posted savings of nearly $200,000 in annual energy costs and 950 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent in 2010 when compared to 2000!
Savings are expected to increase further as Transportation works to change out the last of the incandescent traffic signal bulbs by 2012.
