FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Friday, August 6, 2010

Woman is in critical condition after getting hit by car

This afternoon at 3:45 p.m. a 70-year-old Bellevue resident standing at a Metro bus stop was struck by a vehicle. The vehicle crossed over the center line and drove over the curb, striking the female.

The roadway in the 4700 block of 119th Avenue S.E. remains closed while a traffic collision investigation continues.  A 53-year-old Everett man was driving southbound on 119th Avenue when he apparently blacked out and crossed the center line and struck the female.  She was carried approximately 50 feet into a neighboring yard.

Police closed the roadway immediately while medic units administered aid to the female. She suffered multiple injuries and was immediately transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.  Her family has been notified.

It is unknown if speed, drugs or alcohol were a factor in this accident. The roadway will remain closed until further notice.

The Bellevue Police Department is looking for any witnesses to this collision, and is asking them to call the Bellevue Police Business line at 425-452-6917.
