Bellevue residents and other Eastsiders can learn more about, and comment upon plans by the state Department of Transportation for improvements to State Route 520. 

Called the Eastside Transit and HOV Project, elements of improvements proposed for the Eastside section of the highway include lids over it, new transit in the median and HOV lanes relocated to the inside of the corridor. The work, scheduled to begin in 2010, is the first of four projects on the SR 520 corridor, including the eventual bridge replacement.

The "scoping session" and open house takes place from 4 to 7 p.m., tonight (Tuesday) at North Bellevue Community Center, 4063 148th Ave. NE, in Bellevue. WSDOT has more information.
