News Release

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Friday, April 10, 2009

Delays expected on streets near 520

Pavement work this weekend on westbound State Route 520, between 124th Avenue Northeast and Interstate 405, is expected to cause congestion at nearby intersections and Bellevue streets parallel to the highway.

State Department of Transportation crews will close the two right lanes of westbound SR 520 for the entire weekend, from 11 p.m. Friday, April 10, to 5 a.m. Monday, April 13. Also closed will be the westbound on-ramp from 124th Avenue Northeast to SR 520 and the ramp from westbound SR 520 to northbound I-405.

Signed detours will direct travelers to use on-ramps at 108th Avenue Northeast and 148th Avenue Northeast; drivers should expect congestion at those intersections. To avoid significant delays, motorists are encouraged to choose alternate routes.

If crews have dry weather for paving, this is expected to be the next-to-last weekend of bridge approach work and related lane closures on SR 520. The work could be rescheduled if the forecast calls for rain. The state Department of Transportation has more information about the project.
