Neighborhood Leadership Gathering to explore city's changing face

Leaders and active residents of Bellevue's neighborhoods are invited to attend a semi-annual gathering of neighborhood leaders on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 6:30-8:30 p.m., in City Hall, room 1E-108. This year's gathering will focus on the community's growing diversity, including the benefits and potential challenges it poses to neighborhoods.

"These gatherings offer neighborhood leaders an opportunity to network, engage with city staff and learn more about what's happening in the community," said Mike McCormick Huentelman, the city's neighborhood outreach manager. "We're really looking forward to the discussion about how Bellevue is changing."

The program will feature city demographer Gwen Rousseau, who will share current demographic trends in Bellevue. Also, Diversity and Engagement Administrator Mark Manuel will engage participants in several interactive exercises to help build cultural understanding. Members of Bellevue's new Diversity Advisory Network will later hold a discussion with participants about the challenges and opportunities that diversity in our neighborhoods provides.

Residents interested in joining the conversation and leaning more about Bellevue are welcome to attend. Association board members, emerging leaders and those interested in becoming more involved in their neighborhood are encouraged to participate. Light refreshments will be provided. Please RSVP to neighborhoodoutreach@bellevuewa.gov or 425-452-6836.
