Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT)
Our Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program is targeted toward citizens who want to develop basic disaster skills. CERT is designed for citizens who live or work in the City of Bellevue and who want to be part of emergency response or crime prevention teams.
CERT is a federal program that educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills. CERT Basic Training is an eight to ten week course that teaches the following units:
- Disaster Preparedness
- Fire Safety & Utility Controls
- Disaster Medical Operations (Two Parts)
- Light Search & Rescue Operations
- CERT Organization
- Disaster Psychology
- Terrorism & CERT
Students who take the CERT Basic Training will also have a chance to participate in a disaster simulation, and offered the opportunity to be registered as a City emergency worker.
The best way to get updates about scheduled CERT courses is to sign up for our monthly newsletter.
Congratulations to the graduates of our first ever CERT program! This intrepid group started the program in October and celebrated their hard work on January 22.
