"Road closed today and tomorrow for construction" may be what you see when you start following the Bellevue Transportation Department's Twitter feed (@BvueTrans).
More than 2,500 followers keep up with all city activities and events on Bellevue's general city feed (@BellevueWA). Transportation now joins the city's fire and police departments in using the social media site to post a stream of more specific information related to their work. The general Bellevue Twitter page still includes posts about important events and programs from all departments.
Transportation's feed will cover road or lane closures that impact travel to, from and through Bellevue, as well as upcoming activities, events, meetings or open houses related to transportation. Information on road or lane closures is also available on the city's Traffic Advisories page.
In addition to following the Transportation Department on Twitter, residents can give the city feedback about neighborhood traffic concerns on a recently launched traffic safety blog called "Streets are for Everyone" (SAFE). The blog offers a public forum for comments about neighborhood traffic projects and issues.
