Seven-year-old reports house fire

Thanks to a seven-year-old neighbor who noticed smoke, a fire only damaged part of an East Bellevue house Monday evening.

At 5:20 p.m., the girl saw smoke coming from her neighbor's house and told her father, who called 911. Within six minutes firefighters arrived at the home on the 1400 block of 176th Avenue Northeast to find the living room partially engulfed in flames. Firefighters were able to control the blaze within eight minutes.

A resident reported leaving the home at 3:15 p.m. Monday to run errands.

The crew reported hearing smoke detectors while fighting the fire. Investigators went to the scene to determine the cause and origin of the fire.

A total of six residents are displaced and staying with their family. The home is insured. Damage is estimated at $100,000. No injuries were reported.
