Families can obtain free health and safety information from experts, child safety seat inspections and, while supplies last, free bike helmets at Child Safety Day on Saturday, 11 a.m. - 3 p.m., at the MarketPlace @ Factoria. flyer
Saturday is also National Law Enforcement Memorial Day, an opportunity to recognize peace officers who have given their lives in public service and to celebrate the commitment and partnership between local citizens and their police departments.
The first 50 children can get free bike helmets. Additional helmets will be sold for $9 each.
The event will feature police cars, motorcycles and a police boat on display. There will be kids activities, music and giveaways. Kids can have their pictures taken on a police motorcycle. Also on hand will be Operation Child Safe, a nationwide program to provide families with child identification kits. Free kits will be available while supplies last, courtesy of the Bellevue Police Department.
The City of Bellevue is cosponsoring the event with Savvy Parents Safe Kids. Participants will include the police departments for Bellevue, Mercer Island and Redmond and the King County Police Union.
